Walking and Cycling to School
We actively encourage children to walk, cycle and use a scooter to come to school. Secure storage areas are available and we work closely with Local Motion, to promote this as part of a helathy lifestyle.
Not only does this help the children, but reduces the congestion around the schools which can, at times, be frustrating and dangerous.
We have won various awards for our approach to this problem with Mrs Watson at Heighington being the driving force with her BikeIt crew.

The congestion around the school at Heighington can be very severe and numerous schemes have been implemented including traffic enforcement fines from the police. The simplest solution we have found is to follow one of the three possible options:
1.Park in the parish car park across the road from the school
2. Park in the village- please avoid parking on the Redworth end of Redworth Rd, the brow of the hill is dangerous.
3.Use the "unofficial" one-way system. This is not enforceable but does work if all parents voluntarily adopt it. Please click on the link for further information about this.
